About Macpherson Publishing

Macpherson Publishing builds and runs web tools for the questions people have to answer without a specialist in the room. What a permit costs in their state. Whether a landlord can keep the deposit. What that noise from the engine probably is. Each site takes one subject and covers it properly rather than covering everything shallowly.

What We Build

The portfolio is a mix of calculators, research guides, diagnostic wizards and directories. The areas it currently covers:

  • Legal — tenant rights guidance and educational case assessment
  • Real estate — zoning rules, permits, ADU and short-term rental limits, quoted from municipal code
  • Finance and trade — personal finance calculators, startup costs, import tariffs, price benchmarks
  • Insurance — claim preparation and documentation checklists
  • Career — ATS-focused resume building
  • Health — sleep scheduling
  • Automotive — symptom-based diagnosis with repair cost ranges
  • Professional services — tested AI prompt libraries for regulated trades
  • Local business — a US business directory and store locator

What It Costs

Most of what we build is free and needs no account: the tool runs in your browser and we don’t ask for an email first. A few charge, and when they do it is once rather than monthly. MyResumeKit is free to write and edit in, with a one-time fee only if you export the finished PDF. CMac.ws is free to search, and charges business owners who want an enhanced listing. CostFinder is free to read, with higher-volume access to its data API arranged on request. Nothing in the portfolio is a consumer subscription.

We deliberately don’t quote prices on this page. The tool itself is the only place a price is guaranteed to be current, and it is always shown before you commit to anything. Payments are processed through PayPal, which is why “Macpherson Publishing” appears on the receipt.

How We Source

Where a tool states a fact, that fact has a source behind it. PropertyZoned quotes the municipal ordinance and links to it. AutoProblemAnalyzer’s repair ranges cite RepairPal, AAA and NAPA. Tabularo’s tax calculators use the current IRS brackets, not last year’s. Our legal and health tools are educational and say so plainly: they will tell you when the answer is to speak to a lawyer or a doctor. We would rather ship fewer tools than ones we cannot show the working for.

How the Portfolio Grows

We add a tool when we find a gap worth filling, not on a schedule, and several more are in development. The full list of live sites is on the home page, and it is the one place we keep current.
